The 10 must-see places in the American West Wild : California
Today I bring you back to the West, but in California.
California is not only the beaches of Santa Monica (where I'm never gone for that matter), or only San Francisco (where I have often taken), but it is also a fascinating wild universe: between the ocean and the mountains, I found at least 10 places not to miss while traveling.
1-Yosemite
Yosemite is a fascinating place: for lovers of mountains of granite cliffs, one remains speechless Valley. We can walk quietly from cascading waterfalls especially in spring when they are at their peak. Yosemite is also a wild universe with a plain Tulolumne Meadow: a less touristy place, but offers beautiful views as well.
2-Sequoia, Kings Canyon National Parks
Two parks are but one, with on one side the "grooves" of redwoods, these ancient giants and so massive trees and the other on the back, a wild world: Sierra Nevada, inaccessible and beautiful. It easily seen bears. Do not scare them and they will go their way.
3-Joshua Tree National Park
A small park, not so small that but so beautiful: it is characterized by its trees, Joshua Tree and rock formations so special. You will lose in the Hidden Valley or go further south you walk through a maze of cactus ..
4-Pinnacles National Park
The latest: when I went, it was still a National Monument. Not far from San Francisco, a small mountain range, the remains of a volcano that after passing through the San Andreas Fault has been cut in half .. the other side is well south ... 250 km. What is remarkable in this park are the rocks that fell from the sky covered the bottom of a valley. The road passes under rocks, it feels right in a cave.
5-The Death Valley
The name sends shivers and I do not recommend going there in the summer, there is hell to temperatures more than 50 ° C. This park is amazing: from the bottom of the valley, which is white and desert, full of little side roads that disappear into the bed of streams where rocks come in thousands of colors. And if you're not tired of the desert, the sand dunes are a bright white.
6- Lake Tahoe
A haven of peace close to the tracks .. I you spoke recently .. Straddling the Nevada and California. In winter, you can ski in summer, it can swim ...
7-Mount Shasta
The area of Mount Shasta is often neglected because it is not a National Park .. and yet this volcano extending more than 4000 m above sea level in the middle of the plain and provides an environment around the wildest.
8-Lassen National Park
Another National Park in the background, further north a mini Yellowstone, a taste if you can not go over there. At the corner of a small hill, you will find yourself in the Bumpass Hell, named after the explorer who lost their leg falling into a boiling pot of this place. Between sulfur fumaroles and pots of clear water, let you win by the beauty of this site.
And when you get tired of the mountains, back to the ocean: take a walk on the side of Mendoccino north and south in the towns of Monterey, Carmel and push up .. Big Sur by Route One ..
Incidentally, on the coast, do not forget to admire the forests of Redwoods (not to be confused with the redwoods. Muir Wood National Monument, Big Basin State Park, Big Sur, places abound ...
But in the meantime, do not forget to stop by:

9- Point Reyes National Sea Shore ...
North of San Francisco, a wild and rugged place: on Point Reyes, you will see the raging ocean and the piece of land carved by the sea conditions are extreme. Ocean is in that place very dangerous.
10- Point Lobos State Park
Just south of Carmel, we often pass by without realizing the beauty of the site, the rugged coastline, but beautiful. The ocean is much more accessible. Take a break by going to Big Sur, we can have a picnic, go for a walk along the coast to see the pelicans and cormorants and to admire the remains of an ancient pine forest.
Well, I could still go on for hours ..
California is a state apart, extremely rich. I've not talked about everything. But you can organize your trip knowing what is a must see.
It's easy to plan everything, watch out for kilometers as casually, there is the road. You can also plan your trip to the United States throughout the year, knowing that even when many places are often inaccessible mountains.
